MK Jilek, a abstract artist based in Chicago, views the world as an energy exchange.
Her work reflects her belief that life’s choices and events shape who we are,
capturing her emotions and unique perspective on the world.
I am a painter, creative director, and art curator, currently serving as the art curator for TEDxChicago. I believe in the power of community—pushing one another to create, show up, and share stories. As artists, we are the storytellers, and our role is to bear witness to life, to feel deeply, and to express what words alone cannot. My paintings emerge from whatever speaks to me in the moment. I find inspiration in phrases with layered meanings—tiny sparks that can be felt in different ways, depending on who reads them. Creating feels like a siren sounding in my mind, urging me to find new forms of expression so others might feel something too.
Chicago’s art scene is a force—diverse, vibrant, and deeply supportive. It’s the kind of creative community everyone should experience at least once in their life. This city is home to many greats, and I believe we are in the midst of a chapter that future generations will reflect on with awe.

Jilek's art is a testament to intuition and emotion. Working without plans, she lets each piece emerge organically,

Using diverse tools and mediums, Jilek crafts unique, unrepeatable works imbued with a personal symbology developed over years. Her murals and canvases are meditative, shaped by the rhythm of her marks and the energy of their surroundings.
"The best part is knowing you created that stir—that unexpected shift in someone's day," Jilek says.
Her work captures the desire to break free, pushing boundaries beyond the canvas.
